CITEA: OUTWARD ENGAGEMENT IN ACTION – TARGETED STEPS TOWARD CHINA
CITEA is continuing to advance its strategy to strengthen the international outreach of its members, with the newly appointed Board of Directors placing clear emphasis on creating tangible growth opportunities in global markets.
Within this framework, CITEA President George Malekkos, Vice President Antonia Michael, and General Manager Matina Zisiadou welcomed representatives from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Cyprus.
During the meeting, discussions focused on prospects for boosting exports of Cypriot technology companies, as well as practical ways to facilitate their entry into the Chinese market.
Attention was given to the China International Import Expo, an exhibition dedicated exclusively to imports into China, which was highlighted as a particularly promising platform for Cypriot companies seeking market penetration.
CITEA firmly believes in the ability of Cypriot businesses to expand beyond national borders and actively invests in strategic partnerships that can generate meaningful opportunities for its members.
This initiative forms part of a broader effort to:
- • strengthen members’ international footprint
- • build new commercial bridges
- • capitalize on high-growth markets
CITEA President George Malekkos stated:
“Until recently, China was widely perceived primarily as an export-driven country. However, it is an enormous market that values professionalism and innovation. This creates significant opportunities for Cypriot technology companies, which are well-positioned to compete and deliver specialized solutions.
Our objective is not merely participation in exhibitions or introductory-level networking, but the development of substantive partnerships that will deliver concrete results for our members. We believe there is clear potential for Cypriot expertise, and we intend to pursue it in a structured and strategic way.
If approached correctly, China can evolve from a ‘distant market’ into a strategic opportunity for our sector.”
CITEA will continue to pursue targeted initiatives and international engagements, with the aim of translating such efforts into tangible business collaborations for its members.
